West Virginia University grants final approval for academic program and faculty reductions

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — West Virginia College gave last approval Friday to broad cuts to educational packages and school positions, the fruits of spirited back-and-forth debate among the many campus neighborhood, college students and directors because the college addresses a $45 million funds shortfall.

The college’s Board of Governors voted to drop 28 of its majors, or about 8%, and remove 147 college positions, or 5.7%, at its Morgantown campus. Among the many cuts are a 3rd of the school within the Division of Schooling and your entire Division of World Languages, though seven language educating positions are retained and college students are allowed to take some language programs as electives.
